Constructive Rest Club

The space for people with busy lives and tired bodies

At the Constructive Rest Club, we think Constructive Rest, also known as Semi-Supine, is the best self-care habit.

Along with two other great Alexander Technique teachers, we run this lovely little online club, supporting people from all walks of life and all over the world to develop their Constructive Rest practice.

What is Constructive Rest?

Constructive rest is a restorative practice associated with the Alexander Technique. You lie on your back with your knees bent and feet supported, allowing yourself time to pause and observe how you are using your body.

It doesn't require you to achieve anything in particular or "do" very much. The practice provides an opportunity to stop, observe yourself and let go of unneded tension.

Why practise regularly?

Constructive Rest & Hypermobility

Why practise regularly?

The more you practise, the more familiar Constructive Rest becomes.

Regular practice gives you the opportunity to keep coming back to a few minutes of quiet, rest and reset— making it easier to find a place for it in everyday life.

Who is the Club for?

Constructive Rest & Hypermobility

We've created specific resources for people with hypermobility, including a dedicated version of our Foundations course. These sessions explore Constructive Rest in ways that take into account the different experiences that can come with hypermobility.

I have personal experience of symptomatic hypermobility and a particular professional interest in this area. I’m also an Alexander Technique adviser and wellbeing lead for SEDSConnective.
